RESERVE AND RESERVE PROTOCOL INTRODUCTION

The goal of Reserve is to offer a decentralized alternative to fiat money that is not susceptible to inflation or debasing. This is basically what cryptocurrency was originally conceived to do with Bitcoin. The idea is that by aggregating together baskets of tokenized crypto versions of real-world assets, a currency can be created that is stable in purchasing power and not inflated and debased year after year like government-created currencies. Eventually, these baskets could include real-world commodities such as oil, debt, gold, equities, etc.

Reserve is not susceptible to the risks associated with algorithmic crypto stablecoins such as Luna Terra USTC because it’s backed by real assets. Does this sound like free-market utopian wishful thinking to you? It’s not. The Reserve app, RPay, is already being used by hundreds of thousands of people to buy day-to-day household goods and services in South America.
